What It Actually Costs to Send a Bottle from Aruba

Post Aruba charges for the first two kilograms whether you use them or not. To the United States that is $28.20 before a single extra gram.

Put one bottle in that box and the postage is several times what the sauce costs. Put six in and the same $28.20 is spread across all of them, with each extra kilo after the second costing about $6.

For a long time our checkout showed the sauce first and the freight last. People chose $31 of hot sauce, reached the final step, saw the postage and left. We lost a lot of orders that way, and it was not because the freight was unreasonable. It was because we showed it as a surprise.

So the packs are now priced to the door. Postage and import duty are already inside the number you see, and nothing is added at the checkout or owed when the parcel arrives.

On the larger packs we absorb most of the fare ourselves. That is a decision, not a discount, and it is why a twelve pack costs what it does.
