The experience

An hour inside a real Aruban factory

Six things happen, and the whole visit takes under an hour.

  • Behind the scenes

The real working factory: the kettle, the line, and the labels going on by hand.

  • A guided tasting

Taste along the range, mild and fruity through to seriously hot, with the people who make it standing next to you.

  • The Aruba Heat story

How a local business started in 2007, and how each flavor came to be, told by Chef Michel himself.

  • Island ingredients

Papaya, mango, pineapple, Madame Jeanette and habanero: where the flavors come from, and why the peppers grow here.

  • The heat challenge

Finish with one of our hottest sauces, if you want to. Optional, memorable, and the bit everyone films.

  • Your photo moment

Our "I Survived Aruba Heat" spot. Proof you were here, and that you made it.

Your host

You are shown around by the man who makes it

Michel Franken started Aruba Heat in 2007, cooking sauce in small batches from island fruit and peppers. He still develops every flavor, and he gives the tasting himself, so the answer to “why does the papaya one taste like that?” comes from the person who decided it should.

It is a working factory, not a visitor centre. You will see the kettle going, the line running and the labels going on by hand, because that is what is happening anyway.
